Brain 

It starts in the brain. We often look at hormone imbalances and other symptoms in the body and in our life as “external problems”. Meaning – it must be the food, it must be the water, it must be exercise etc. And while all of those things DO matter, how our body feels, our symptoms, problems we experience in our life are projections of the INTERNAL world. Literally, what’s happening in your brain.

Chronic stress,  insane internal pressure to hustle and complete your to do list, be productive, feeling “allergic” to be being lazy, limiting beliefs, perfectionism and people pleasing tendencies are all internal patterns that your brain has learned that ultimately can lead to burn out and exhaustion.

When these are at the root of your symptoms, that’s oftentimes when you’ll hear – “we don’t know what’s wrong” and “it must be stress”.

If your nervous system is in fight, flight, freeze or fawn – your brain and body are in survival mode. And that’s going to have a direct impact on your brain, energy levels, your hormones, your muscles and your gut because it influences WHERE your body sends its resources. If you stay here for long enough – the body has no choice but to start throwing up symptoms because it doesn’t have the resources to continue on.

When your nervous system finally starts spending more time in rest & digest mode – it feels safe, it starts healing, you see more options available to you and you’ll build resilience.

How you feel, your emotions, your symptoms are information. It’s how your body is trying to communicate with you. 

But one of the things we’re taught from the start is to suppress and ignore. Certain emotions are “bad”. And that’s how we learn to handle our feelings.

The problem with this though, is that it’s essentially telling your body that you don’t matter. How you feel, doesn’t matter. How you feel, isn’t safe.

So we end up storing trauma, negative emotions in our tissues. And then, every time we “feel” something – it triggers an expression in those tissues.

We also end up living mostly in our heads, afraid to really feel. Which can have you feeling anxious, worried, thinking constantly about the never ending to do list, the problems at work and never really grounded and present in the room.

Your symptoms are telling you where to start looking for the imbalances. You literally have the answers you need. It’s time to start listening.

SPIRIT 

Your energy, your spirit, is just as important as the other two, but is most commonly neglected. You’ve been programmed to measure your worth through your achievements and how much you get done. 

One of the main reasons why people feel anxious and depressed is because they are in some way living outside of their purpose. Feeling unfulfilled, burned out and exhausted are signals that your entire being is asking you to stop and listen.

Module 1: How Your Values Dictate Your Parenting

When your true inner values are not identified and therefore met, you will always lead with a seed of frustration, unfulfillment and doubt. When you put parenting before yourself, you’ll never be the parent you want to be (how much is left to pour when the cup is empty?) When you’re able to meet your needs in tandem with your family and kids’ needs the overstimulation and snapping at your kids happen far less often.

Module 2: Healing Mode Activated

Society has taught you that motherhood should be overwhelming. That the default is burnout and constant overstimulation. The side effects of living in this dysregulation not only leads to physical exhaustion but constant mental anxiety. When in reality, none of this is true. When you begin healing your central nervous system (aka the operating system behind your emotions) you’ll realize you have a choice to approach it all differently. This societal limitation gets to end with you.

Module 3: BIG emotions don’t need BIG reactions

We uncover and clear The Big 6 Emotions to ensure that you’re not meeting your emotional kiddos with more emotion. Meaning you’re not reacting to a BIG feeling (your kid really wanted to stay at the park) with a tantrum of your own. It may feel like the emotion is being charged in that moment, when really it’s a tab you’ve left open for decades (here, we close them).

Just wait until you feel all that energy come back. What would have been an entire day being ruined by your child’s big feelings and your future moments robbed because you’re still venting about it to your friends days later, turns into a micro-moment you simply move through

 

Module 4: Clearing Emotions So You’re Not Reacting Emotionally

You’ll understand WHY your kiddos have BIG feelings and you’ll know exactly how to respond (without it triggering a complete emotional meltdown between you both that leaves you both wondering how you got there).

Here we master how to process your own emotions so that you can return to a neutral, calm state more quickly (rather than letting a moment derail your entire day and you’re still venting about it to your friends days later).

Module 5: Who Are You Now?

You’ll no longer avoid and repress your desires, your needs and your emotions. You’ll learn how to express your emotions & needs in a way that doesn’t drench others in emotional chaos.

Mom Guilt? We Don’t Know Her

Taking personal responsibility is great, judging yourself for what you have done, could’ve done, should’ve done differently is a waste of time. Identifying and releasing the shame you have around not doing enough or being enough is giving you time BACK with your family. The brain calories you’re spending going back and forth is robbing your present moment with your child. This is a lose, lose for you and them. Mom guilt tells me you’re a good mom, you know this is one of the most important things you’ll ever do in your life. It’s time to release this defaulted mental interrogation you have with yourself.

 

Module 6: You’ve Been Reborn, Too

“I don’t know who I am anymore”. That’s true, you don’t. And it’s only because you haven’t met HER yet. Here we discover who she is, what she wants (and doesn’t), what she needs (and doesn’t). Full permission to release the old you and embrace the new you.

New You, Old Limitations

Discover who you are now. The growing pains are real. As you step into knowing yourself, your limitations and old defaulted patterning will make themselves more obvious. And the old you will tell the new you that she’s not good enough. Here we dive deeper into untangling what we might be bringing with us unconsciously into this next phase and understanding of ourself and our conditioning (learned survival behavior).

Module 7: Break Free from Limiting Beliefs

Understand why you fall back on certain habits and step into motherhood your way, with your authentic joy and peace at the center.

You’ll understand why you keep defaulting to behaviors and patterns of how you “should” be as a mom (you know when you look in the mirror and say how terrible you look, just like your mom used to do…) and instead create the new patterns of your authentic expression of who you are & motherhood.

Hey, I’m Dr k!

 I used to feel like I needed to “fix” myself. For most of my life I felt like there was something wrong with me. And as a high achiever I was successful at most things I did. I had 5 degrees, my own practice, I was an Ironman triathlete and things “looked” good.

But inside, I had attached my self worth with my achievements. I strove for unachievable perfection and was stuck in survival mode using frustration to motivate myself, feeling frozen and stuck, paralyzed by anxiety, perfectionism and people pleasing to avoid conflict.

It all showed up in my health and relationships. I reached the pinnacle of my burnout in my private Chiropractic and Functional Medicine practice. I was getting stress hives everyday and my migraines and endometriosis weren’t getting better no matter what I did.

And then… my husband said he had wanted to have kids for over 5 years. It felt like a knife to my gut.

There was no way I could have kids feeling the way I did. My immune system was shot and there was no way I could add a kid on top of everything else. My body and my mind were at a breaking point. And that’s when I realized that I had to change. 

I had literally tried everything. Conventional medicine, alternative medicine, all the lifestyle changes. 

But I hadn’t learned how to regulate my emotions. How to stop ignoring and repressing my emotions. I needed to regulate my nervous system. I needed to heal past events in my life.

So I did. I became master certified in Neurolinguistic Programming and learned how to help myself and my patients, clients how to heal, too.

And then… everyone told me inside of Motherhood I’d not sleep again and burnout and overwhelm were inevitable. But…when I became a mom that’s when I truly realized the value and power of these tools. Frequently Asked Questions

Can I join if I'm Pregnant or not yet pregnant?

YES. In fact, I highly recommend doing the deep work now and adding all the tools I teach you inside this course to your toolbox. So many women that have done the work before getting into motherhood tell me ALL THE TIME how glad they are that they had these tools when they became a mom.

There is so much focus on labor, baby and pregnancy… but after your 6-8 week check up that’s all you get. Yet you go through one of the biggest life changes during your first year postpartum. Mom’s NEED support.

By getting the tools now, before kiddo gets here, you’ll have so many amazing tools to use when you need it the most.

Why should I Do the dutch hormone test?

Lab testing is a tool that we use to get a visual on what’s happening inside – “under the hood” as I like to say. The DUTCH comprehensive panel gives us a look at what your hormones, cortisol & some of your neurotransmitters are doing. With these insights we can also use it as a physical evaluation and evidence of what your hypothalamus is doing.

And that’s really cool because we know that the brain controls everything. When we’re able to take a top down AND bottom up approach to your health, we’re able to identify where YOU need support.

This panel is also useful because we can also get some insights into thyroid imbalances, digestion/gut/absorption of vital nutrients issues, liver function and others.

Can I Go At My Own Pace?

There is a part of the course where you can go at your own pace. You’ll get access to those trainings that are released each week for you to watch on your own.

However, once the live trainings begin – you’ll want to be present for those and go through the course each week as it is built and intended. The live trainings will not be repeated and the live calls will be removed after each cohort ends.

Is there a next step after this experience?

This experience will lay down the foundations for the next level of support. Once you’ve completed the Functional Motherhood program, a great next step is The Village membership. And/or we can work together 1:1 for further health & mind coaching.

What if I'm in or post menopause?

While you may be through the major “parenting” phases, parenting – and your life – isn’t over. In fact, many women I’ve worked with through the menopause and beyond stages have again found themselves in a growth and transformational time as they figure out who they are now after raising children. It’s an opportunity to dive deep and align yourself with your purpose.

Also, many menopause symptoms are a result of stress on the body. Some of that does come from blood sugar imbalances and other “body” stress. However, it’s not just about the body. Much of that stress does come from the mind. “Life still life’s” as I like to say. Balancing your hormones is as much addressing the needs of the body as it is addressing the needs of the emotions and brain as well.

What If I can't attend the live sessions?

It’s definitely recommended that you make it to the live calls. While the calls will be recorded and you can do some of the exercises on your own, it’s best to be guided when we work with the subconscious mind. If for some reason you can’t make any of the live calls in any cohort that’s offered, reach out to Dr K at [email protected].

Can i have my kids with me?

Yes of course, we are all mama’s. In fact, it’s possible mine will show up from time to time. The exercises will still WORK even if you get interrupted.

That being said, the calls will be the same time, same day each week. Consider giving yourself the gift of this time to work on you and fill your cup.

How much time will it take per week?

Only you know your schedule and I KNOW being a mom is busy at any stage. There is a live group coaching call that is 60-90 minutes each week. And each week there are additional trainings, content and exercises, which are about an additional 60 minutes. These can be spread out and listened to when you go out for walks, as you’re nursing your kiddo, as you’re commuting or doing chores around the house.

If I join Now when is the next live group?

The next live group starts in January so that there is time for those who want to get labs to get them done before we start. Calls are TBD as for each cohort I find a time that works for everyone in that cohort. I haven’t once had a group where we couldn’t find a time that worked for everyone.
